Fix Your Eyes On Him

Fix Your Eyes On Him

Looking at the picture (below) it’s difficult to know what state or country this setting is. It might also be difficult to know what season this photo was taken. My focus is actually drawn to the sun, with beams of light shooting from the center. When I take my focus off the sun I see the blue sky, and clouds. When I shift my gaze even lower I see the darkness of the trees that seem to be more of a shadow. The leafless branches are still as the wind blows.

I’m always so amazed at how much God can teach us through the most ordinary things in our everyday lives. I began to think about the image and how it displays a perception. We are drawn to the beauty of the sun and beams of light. The reality of the photo was that, It was a cold 35 degree winter day in Illinois. Most people in Illinois dread this season, it’s usually gloomy, cold and everything is dormant.

You might be going through a really bad season in your life. The shadows of hurt and disappointment, seem unchanging. You cry out to God asking for the season to be over. Maybe you are in a season of waiting? Are you waiting for circumstances to change. Are you waiting for God to reveal His purpose and plan and give you clear direction?

I look at the photo and I see a sun that shines during all seasons of life. Don’t allow this season that draws your attention to the shadows of despair and causes you to lose faith and hope. God will get you through this season and will carry you into the next one.

My Grace is always sufficient (more than enough for you) and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has never left you, allow Him to shine and bring warmth, comfort and peace in every season. Don’t give up, fix your eyes on Him. I am reminded of an old hymn that reminds us.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full, in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim. In the light of His glory and Grace.
